Get ready to put your creative hats on and let’s get down to curating ;)
Tip # 1: Decide on a Main Color Palette. These flatlays that we’re gonna show you today are not just inspired by spring, but are inspired with the 2019 color of the year: Living Coral too! We absolutely love this color and so we have been recently incorporating coral colors and peaches on our flatlays too. Having a main color will make everything cohesive and will help you determine the perfect colors that will complement it.
Tip # 2: Maximize your resources. Shooting flatlays needs lots of effort than other people may think. Don’t waste all the preparations and materials you used so you can have one photo. Shoot as many variations you like to make them appear as if different photos. In this example, we used flowers of the same color and added a silk ribbon to make it an individual photo! For this one, like we said, we love coral colors! The subtlety of the silk ribbon is just right to give the perfect amount of dreaminess and softness to your flatlay.
Tip # 3: Texture is everything. for gorgeous flatlays is you have to play with texture. Yes, flowers may have a general soft and feminine appearance but on a close up flatlay, the edges of the plants will standout and you will have to balance them out to achieve a softer look. In this case, we added a soft and flowy silk ribbon to balance it out.
Tip # 4: Be mindful of symmetry. The human eyes love finding symmetry and perfect balance. And many people may not notice it, but they find a perfectly balanced and symmetric photo more attractive than a flatlay with just random things. Be playful with shapes and see if you can do anything to balance your arrangements.
Tip # 5: Have lots of fun! Having a positive attitude will radiate a pleasant energy to everything you do. Stop stressing out in getting the perfect flatlay and just have fun with the process!
