Ways to Spice Up Your Home for Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day
Want to have a spontaneous Cinco de Mayo celeb for this year? You don’t have to step outside to relive the Cinco de Mayo festivities of the recent past. For today’s blog post, we prepared a Cinco de Mayo tablescape inspiration for you and your loved ones!
This annual festivity is celebrated with brightly colored parades and sumptuous food! We know it’s hard to achieve the ‘parades’ bit but you can have a fun party at home. Spring is not yet over so enjoy bright color palettes and let them inspire your Cinco de Mayo tablescape this year. (P.S. Did you know that Cinco de Mayo in the recent years has the same beer sales as the NFL’s Super Bowl?)
Keep those bright spring colors in play!
Our tablescape mostly used warm tones of oranges and pinks. As Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day is celebrated in Spring, why not use live and playful colors for your tablescape? To make things a little bit dreamy, we used a silk table runner that flows from one end of the table to the opposite.
Keep your tablescape dynamic and popping by adding colors that accentuate your main shade! For this design, we went with powder blue velvet chairs that are as comfy as they are pretty.
Include festive floral centrepieces that could make even Aphrodite jealous! Tablescape design can survive without the flower element but Cinco de Mayo is about all out festivities so don’t hold out!
We’re going for a fun, yet intimate indoor Cinco de Mayo so we used small flowers in different shades of warm colors. They go very well with the small touches of blue here and there!
Continue with your chosen palette all throughout your cozy living space. This way, we can go to different parts of the house without giving up the festive vibe.
Include whimsically loud elements in your decor
Think about all the fun memories of your past Cinco de Mayo celebrations and include all of these vibrant moments in every smallest decor! Don’t forget to include the ever-present maracas, of course!
It might be pretty hard to include a party-sized piñata in the mix so you can throw in this Cinco de Mayo key element in your design as well. It might also be a fun bonding moment to paint your own piñata and have a contest on who made the best one at the end of the celebration. A fun Mother’s Day activity too!
Basket goodies are always a good idea as well. Mix in all your favorite Cinco de Mayo elements and other gifts for mom in one container and include it in your festive tablescape! Want to add a little more spice to the decor? Grame multicolored velvet and silk ribbons that complement your chosen palette perfectly!
Try out cartoon-esque decorations!
Vibrant color palettes and classic, dreamy illustrations are some of the trending designs for 2020. For our Cinco de Mayo design inspo, we got some classic cartoon-esque cards that makes the whole look more unique and edgy!
Don’t forget the spring element for your Cinco de Mayo and throw in some fruits to pair up with your dreamy flower pieces. Since we mostly went with pinks and oranges, contrasting color tones like deep blues and dark reds make our Mothers Day or Cinco de Mayo event more sophisticated and playful at the same time!
You’re almost done with the design so why not create the perfect playlist next? (Look up some new cocktail mixes as well while you’re at it!)
The most important point of this spontaneous and playful event is to have fun in a comfortable space. Don’t overthink this, and have a festive indoor party with great drinks and great company. Enjoy your May festivities!
xoxo
