How to Throw a Whimsical Easter Right in Your Own Backyard
Easter is one of the most-awaited events for families every year. Think of it as a playful spring counterpart of Halloween street dress-ups and fun trick or treats! Everyone is staying at home and enjoying some quality family time nowadays but that shouldn’t stop you from throwing a memorable Easter egg hunt for your kids!
Don’t even bother going to your nearest park. Make this year’s Easter a family-only event and let your kids run around in your own backyard! We have a few ideas on how to make it whimsical both for you and your little cuties.
Use playful and light colors to bring out a magical spring Easter afternoon
Keep an intimate family event airy and whimsical by using light colors of pinks and blues! An Easter event with the kids in your own backyard is like a small slice of a magical garden we see in Disney movies.
Remember that this is a family event in your own home, so absolutely no need to do something fancy (and uncomfortable for everyone). Set up a table right on your lawn. No need for high chairs, square pillows will do!
Complete the look of your tablescape design with balloons. This keeps the playful mood of your very own Easter event. Of course, don’t forget to take photos of everything for keepsakes! To tie up the event, try dressing up in light, warm tones as well.
For this one, we went with light blue tones for the tablescape design and dress up this lovely family with light earth tones to complement our organic table spread! Let’s use nature’s colors for this whimsical Easter event.
Set up an effortless kid-friendly table design
Using a low table with floor seating is ideal for families with young kids. This way, they get to move easily for the whole afternoon. The pillow seating is also comfortable and lets you practice good posture.
Make this Easter a casual and intimate family event without sacrificing comfort for you and your kids.
Let’s not forget about the table centerpiece. For this tablescape, we went with large flowers in full bloom as it is spring, after all. The floral piece of the event also shares the same colors with the overhead balloon design we showed earlier. Don’t be afraid to use patterns in your tablescape as well.
Notice the stripes of whites and blues on the table linens? It keeps up with our hushed color palette but it still playful as ever! These small pattern details help the design be more dynamic and eye-catching. Looks great in the photos, too!
We still want the kids to enjoy this Easter garden party so don’t forget to include cute details. You might not have a costume of the Easter bunny in your closet and that’s absolutely fine! These cute bunny plates are both cute and functional. Your little cuties will surely have a great time during your afternoon feast! Cake, anyone?
Top it off with a rustic counter and spread
Easter and egg hunts are inseparable. Aside from the center table spread, set up a cute egg station in your backyard too! Try to do a mini egg hunt with the kids and you can man the egg counter to see how many they find. Why not give them little treats for every egg they find?
Use a recurring detail throughout any event that you plan. The cute Easter bunny makes a reappearance! And while our whimsical Easter party mostly uses pinks and blues, add a pop of warm color in the form of orange! Plus, it’s a healthy treat for your kids.
Aside from the floral detail, you can also add some more textiles and ribbons to tie the whole party together. These elements are the same as the striped table linen aspect. Your party will look livelier and more three-dimensional with these details. Aside from oranges, you can also use gold touches as an added twist!
Still thinking about other activities aside from egg hunting? Bring out your arts and crafts so everyone can paint the eggs that they find! You can also buy synthetic eggs for each member of the fam and have everyone write their names and personalise their individual eggs. This can be a perfect keepsake of a whimsical Easter garden party thrown in your very own backyard.
Let your kids run barefoot on a perfect afternoon!
Creating memories with your kids is not that hard to achieve, even during this time. It might surprise you how effortless this Easter garden party can be done once you’ve tried it yourself. Enjoy a peaceful afternoon with the ones you love. We hope you have a happy, love-filled Easter!
xoxo,
Jeanette
